We are proud to welcome a new brand to BijSMAAK: Mercer.
Mercer Amsterdam, founded in 2013 by Pim Dresen, is a sustainable brand from Amsterdam that specializes in sneakers and clothing for both men and women. Inspired by famous American baseball teams, each sneaker bears the unique name of a known baseball city, found on the heel.
Why Mercer? Because at BijSMAAK this season, we are increasingly following the '00 runners' trend, Mercer is a good addition to our current collection. It may not be the traditional 'runner' as you know from brands such as Asics, New Balance, or Saucony etc. Unlike the traditional '00 running sneakers, which are often made of cheaper materials, Mercer only uses recycled products. They proudly carry 8 different seals that show they meet stringent sustainability standards. Moreover, Mercer was the first brand to collaborate with Piñatex to make the first fully sustainable vegan sneaker from pineapple leather. For example, look at the mesh on each sneaker, made from recycled plastic bottles from the sea, and the insole made from used bath towels.
