After the popularity of the Wave Rider 10, Mizuno comes with a premium release.
The Wave Rider 1 was an innovative running sneaker when it was released in 1998. This was the debut of the Wave, a piece of cushioning technology that is still incorporated in the shoe. Every year a new update of the Wave Rider appeared, until the original Wave Rider 10 in 2007. This had a completely different aesthetic, more aggressive and layered.
Wave Rider was a game-changer for Mizuno. This was stated by designer Tuan Le in an interview with Highsnobiety, a huge platform for fashion and lifestyle. Le explains: ''The Wave technology was the opposite of the popular Nike Air. Nike Air is a large airbag that provides cushioning for the impact of running, but the Wave Plate stretches out during impact and propels the runner forward while returning to its normal wavy shape''.
The Wave Plate thus ensures that the shoe stretches and compresses itself again. In essence, the sole not only offers support but also actually provides a boost during walking and running. The Wave Rider 10 Premium is a mix of suede, mesh and leather, with an added bonus of a metallic detail on the heel.
