Saucony eert de begintijden van het merk, toen de sneaker gigant nog maar één bescheiden vestiging had in Pennsylvania.
The Raccoon, Crystal Cave and Saucony Marsh were already a tribute to the birthplace of Saucony; Kutztown, Pennsylvania. Now the brand is coming with another blast from the past, a reinterpretation of the Grid Shadow 2 from '97. These new colorways are made up of nubuck pigskin, full-grain leather, and gum rubber.
The renewed Saucony Grid Shadow 2’s made their entry into the sneaker world during Paris Fashion week '23. For the exhibition in the House of Originals showroom, Paris, Saucony had filled the space with vintage technology and illustrated walls. Saucony sees a shift towards the ''retro tech'' movement within the sneaker community. This is a reference to the innovation that was playing at the beginning of the 2000s. Saucony considers this a very relevant element in their contemporary design process. However, the brand does not want to give the impression that they are only riding on the ever-changing hype of the moment. ''You can get lost in hype. It’s like watching the scoreboard instead of watching the game'' according to Rob Griffiths, Brand President of Saucony.
